The roof is constructed from several layers of material to ensure maximum sound deadening, and will be neatly stored underneath a new hard tonneau cover when the occupants want some top-down motoring. As you’d expect, the convertible variant of Chevy’s sixth-generation pony vehicle is pretty much the same machine roof down – the roof mechanism itself is said to be “segment’s most-advanced top”. So is the underlying structure, which was, developed from the start to accommodate a convertible, so that quivers and cowl shake is a thing of the past. You’re not going to be able to buy the Camaro
Convertible until the dead of winter: the ambiguous “early 2016″.
The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro should arrive in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other GCC countries before the end of the year. Chevrolet’s top package, available for the 2016 model, features a 6.2-liter, V8 engine that can crank out 455 horsepower. With each of these engines, there’s a choice between a six-speed manual gearbox or eight-speed automatic transmission.
Camaro’s leaner, stiffer platform and slightly smaller dimensions are accentuated by a dramatic, sculpted exterior.
Inside, the driver-focused cabin integrates class-leading control technologies, including a new Driver Mode Selector, configurable instrument cluster and a customizable ambient lighting feature.
The 2016 Camaro, in all variations, will be assembled at General Motors’ Lansing Grand River plant.
In line with Ford, the Camaro convertible will be available in 4-cylinder, V-6, and V-8 SS trims, and will probably find a home among the future ZL1 and Z/28 models as well. It has a solid, but light structure which is what matters most in speedy vehicles. In addition, it introduces the most sophisticated convertible top in the segment, with fully automatic operation, hard tonneau cover, and the ability of opening or closing at speeds up to 30 mph.
